Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old to hold a Menu Maker account, or use the Service under the supervision of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity under your account.

You can explore Menu Maker as a guest without providing an email address. Guest data is stored against a temporary account; if you later sign up, your recipes and plans carry over to your named account. Guest accounts that are never converted may be deleted after a period of inactivity, along with their data.

Menu Maker is a paid subscription with a free first month. No payment card is required to start; you will only be charged if you choose to subscribe when your free period ends. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Promotional codes and offers (for example, an additional free month for completing a feedback survey) are applied to your account as described at the time of the offer and cannot be exchanged for cash.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your profile. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Where the Australian Consumer Law entitles you to a refund (for example, for a major failure of the Service), we will provide it; otherwise fees for a commenced billing period are non-refundable.

You own the content you add to Menu Maker — recipes, notes, plans, photos and pantry data (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited licence to host, store, process and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service, including passing recipe text to AI providers to power features you invoke (such as recipe generation, modification, cook plans and suggestions).

Menu Maker lets you import recipes from web pages and from photos of cookbooks, magazines and handwritten cards. Imports are for your personal, private use. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to import and use any content you add. Where a recipe is imported from a URL, the Service retains and displays the source attribution.

You may choose to publish a recipe to the public community library. By publishing, you confirm the recipe is yours to share — your own work, meaningfully adapted by you, or content you otherwise have the right to publish — and you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce and distribute it as part of the Service, including on public web pages that may be indexed by search engines and read by AI systems. Your display name is shown as the author.

You can unpublish any of your published recipes at any time, which removes them from the community library. Other users who saved a copy of your recipe to their private collection before you unpublished keep their copy.

If you delete your account, your published recipes remain in the community library. The link to your account is removed, but the recipes themselves stay available to the community. If you want a published recipe removed entirely, unpublish it before deleting your account, or contact us and we will remove it for you.

Menu Maker uses artificial intelligence to generate and modify recipes, produce step-by-step cook plans, suggest meals, estimate nutrition and answer cooking questions. AI output can be wrong. In particular:

• Nutrition figures (including calories and nutrient estimates) are AI estimates, not measurements, and are not dietary or medical advice.
• Always verify cooking times and temperatures for meat, poultry, seafood and eggs — food must be cooked to a safe temperature regardless of what a generated plan says.
• Always check ingredients against your own allergies and intolerances. Dietary preferences you set are applied on a best-efforts basis and can be missed by AI features.
• Use-by reminders and storage guidance are general estimates to help reduce waste; rely on your own judgment, product labels and food-safety guidance when deciding what is safe to eat.

The Service is a planning aid, not a substitute for professional medical, dietary or allergy advice.

You agree not to misuse the Service. This includes not publishing content that is unlawful, infringing, offensive or spam; not attempting to access other users’ data; not scraping or bulk-extracting the Service other than public pages via lawful crawling; not reselling the Service; and not using the Service to develop a competing product.

If you believe content in the community library infringes your copyright or is otherwise unlawful, contact us at contact@menu-maker.org with the recipe link and details. We will review promptly and remove content where appropriate.

The Service — including its software, design, branding and content we create — is owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not give you any rights in it other than the right to use the Service.

You can delete your account at any time. On deletion we remove your private recipes, plans, pantry data and personal information, except: published community recipes remain as described in section 5; and records we are required to keep by law (for example, billing records) are retained for the required period.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. Where practical, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your content.

Menu Maker is under active development. Features may change, be added or be removed. We aim for high availability but do not promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify these Terms; if changes are material we will notify you in the app or by email, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

To the extent permitted by law, and subject always to the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, we exclude liability for indirect and consequential loss, and our total liability in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and AUD $50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

You use recipes, cook plans and food-safety guidance at your own judgment. You remain responsible for safe food handling and preparation in your own kitchen.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
