A whole chicken sits on a bed of baby potatoes and steams itself into juicy, pull-apart meat. No trussing, no basting, no oven.
Ingredients
- 1.6 kilogram whole chicken
- 700 gram baby potatoes
- 1 piece lemon
- 2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- 1Tip the baby potatoes into the slow cooker to make a bed, then sit the whole chicken on top.
- 2Prick the lemon a few times with a fork and push it into the chicken cavity.
- 3Drizzle the oil over the chicken and sprinkle the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and salt all over the skin.
- 4Put the lid on and cook on low for 6 and a half hours, then pull the meat apart with two forks.
- 5Strip any leftover meat off the bones the same night. It keeps 3 days in the fridge or 3 months frozen in flat bags; thaw in the fridge and reheat in the microwave for 2 minutes.
