Pan-Fried Pork Steaks With Potato and Apple

Pork steaks sear first, then potatoes and apple soften in the same buttery pan with a splash of cider vinegar. Sweet, savoury and done in one go.

Ingredients

  • 600 gram pork loin steaks
  • 700 gram chat potatoes
  • 2 piece green apples
  • 1 piece brown onion
  • 30 gram butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 150 millilitre chicken stock
  • 250 gram green beans
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme

Instructions

  1. 1Cut the potatoes into 1.5cm slices and season the pork on both sides.
  2. 2Heat the oil in a large frying pan over high heat and sear the pork for 2 minutes each side, then lift onto a plate.
  3. 3Drop the butter into the pan and fry the potatoes and sliced onion for 10 minutes, until golden at the edges.
  4. 4Add the thick apple wedges, thyme, vinegar and stock and stir to lift the brown bits from the base.
  5. 5Cover and cook over low heat for 10 minutes, until the potatoes are soft to a knife.
  6. 6Return the pork and any juices to the pan, add the beans, cover and cook for 5 minutes until the beans are bright green.
