Homemade Vanilla Custard Powder

A jar of golden custard powder that whisks into thick, glossy custard on the stove. Make it once and pudding night gets a lot easier.
Ingredients
- 200 gram cornflour
- 150 gram caster sugar
- 100 gram full cream milk powder
- 1 pinch ground turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- 1Sift the cornflour into a large bowl to break up any lumps.
- 2Whisk in the caster sugar, milk powder and salt.
- 3Add the pinch of turmeric and whisk until the powder is a soft even yellow.
- 4Spoon into a 750 millilitre jar and label with the date.
- 5TO USE: whisk 4 tablespoons of powder into 500 ml cold milk in a saucepan with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir constantly over medium heat for 5 minutes until thick and bubbling. Serves 4.
- 6Store in an airtight jar in a cool dark cupboard for up to 6 months.
