Easy Paneer Butter Masala

Soft cubes of paneer in a mild, creamy tomato sauce with warm spices. A restaurant favourite made simple for weeknights.
Ingredients
- 40 gram butter
- 400 gram paneer, cubed
- 1 piece brown onion, finely diced
- 3 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 500 millilitre tomato passata
- 150 millilitre thickened cream
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 cup steamed basmati rice, to serve
Instructions
- 1Melt half the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat and fry the paneer for 4 minutes until golden, then set it aside.
- 2Melt the remaining butter in the pan and cook the onion for 5 minutes until soft.
- 3Add the garlic, ginger, garam masala and paprika and stir for 1 minute.
- 4Add the passata and sugar and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 5Stir in the cream and return the paneer to the pan.
- 6Simmer gently for 3 minutes until the paneer is heated through.
- 7Season with salt and serve with steamed basmati rice.
